Project Hail Mary

Project Hail Mary. This is a movie about Star Power. But not because it's a movie that takes place in space. This is about how Ryan Gosling was able to use his huge influence in Hollywood to get this made and not fucked with. Apparently he read the pre publication galleys of the novel and told his agent to tell people he was behind this project. He told other people. He convinced the studio to aquire the rights. He got it done. I was gonna right a long review about all the cool, effective, brilliance on display from everyone involved. I will say this doesn't work without Gosling. He belongs here. Sandra Hüller as cool, efficient black clad Northern European Bureaucrat is also perfect. I normally hate movies like this, big movies that are big deals. I fucking love this movie. This is the kind of movie that made me fall in love with cinema. The kind that you watch the credits and just walk around in a daze after leaving the theater. I watched it at home, so I just walked out side and walked around my neighborhood. Just go see it. Highest Recommendation. See it wherever it's playing.
